Enokitake

Enokitake

Enokitake (Flammulina velutipes) shares many general health benefits with other edible mushrooms—such as immune support, antioxidant activity, and beneficial polysaccharides—but it stands out for several distinctive compounds.  It contains flammulin, an antimicrobial protein, and FIP-fve, a fungal immunomodulatory protein specific to this species that has been studied for its ability to regulate immune responses and reduce inflammation.  Enoki is also rich in ergothioneine, a rare antioxidant amino acid that helps protect cells—especially mitochondria—from oxidative stress.  In addition, its unique polysaccharide profile has shown immune-mediated anti-tumor activity in laboratory and animal studies.

Beyond immune effects, enokitake has drawn interest for potential neuroprotective benefits, with some observational research in Japanese populations suggesting an association between regular mushroom consumption (including enoki) and reduced cognitive decline.  Animal studies also indicate possible cholesterol-lowering and metabolic benefits. In Traditional Chinese Medicine is used as spleen and stomach support, and liver support.

What are tinctures?

Tinctures are extracts wherein the main solvent is a high proof alcohol.

Forage & Cultivate Enoki Tincture is made from certified organic cane alcohol, reverse osmosis and/or deionized water, and 100% enokitake fruit body, grown by us using organic substrate.  All of our tinctures are dual extracted, meaning they are extracted for both their alcohol soluble and their water soluble active compounds.

How do I take my Enokitake Tincture?

Shake well before using. Take your tincture once in the morning and once in the afternoon by filling the attached dropper 1 or 2 times (2-4 mL/day), distributing it under the tongue, or in a drink of your choice.
